Tall Wheat Grass (Thinopyrum Ponticum)
- Tussock forming perennial grass
- Suitable for moderately saline and poorly drained sites
- Doesn’t tolerate frequent inundation
- Summer moist duplex or heavy soils suit best
- Grows in warmer months & sets seed from January to March
- Moderately drought tolerant
- Sow in early spring or autumn
- Seedlings are slow to emerge so early control of weeds and pests is essential
- Graze lightly in first year, then rotationally once established
- Increase productivity with Nitrogen fertiliser
