Cocksfoot is an extremely persistent plant that is suited to light well drained soil types with a low fertility base. Cocksfoot performs best when combined with other deep rooted perennials.
Cocksfoot does have a poor reputation for palatability although this is mainly a management issue, to get the best results it does require hard grazing, which will maximize dry matter production and nutritive value.
